The Lioness
Strength isn't loud. Sometimes it is simply getting up again.
She is weary, yet magnificent.
She grooms and plays with her cubs.
She and her sisters stroll gently and gracefully,
protecting their cubs and scoping their territory.
She seeks shade from the midday sun
Resting under an acacia tree.
She has scanned the Savannah sunset for prey.
She plans the ambush of zebras and antelopes
with her sisters in silent formation.
They are exhilarated by the hunt!
Pulling the carcass into a thicket for shade
They ensure hyenas and vultures stay at bay.
The deep grunts and roars are calls for feasting.
The Lion first satiates his appetite and protects the pride.
The lionesses then feast and satisfy their young.
She is now weary, and slumbers in satisfied splendor.
